The people I work with. I spend most of my time with them so it is very important for me to feel comfortable and to have a good relationship with everyone. Knowing my work has great importance to the business makes me go the extra mile. I also feel very motivated when my work will make a difference to our clients or customers.

What is your preferred way to communicate in the workplace?
It depends of what I am trying to accomplish. For simple messages email, quick questions through BBM, for team alignment or engagement in a project I prefer meeting in person or through teleconference. I also prefer one-on-one meetings to give or receive feedback, which I value very much.

What kind of development opportunities do you expect to be offered by your employer?
I expect development opportunities both personally and professionally. I would value a NLP course to better adapt my leadership style to people around me. New challenges in different countries, cultures and in various functions is attractive. An opportunity to obtain a more scientific training to fully grasp new industry trends and generate business development insights would also be appreciated.

  • My family and the values I have inherited allowed me to have healthy relationships with others
  • My Tai Chi Chuan master teachings of Taoism helped me to look for more balance in my life
  • The belief that if there is a will there is a way makes me passionate about endeavors I want to pursue

What do you wish your colleagues from other generations would know about Gen Y?
People from all organization levels should be treated equally and with respect.
When a senior executive opinion is challenged, the intention is not to call attention or defy authority. There is a genuine interest in seeing the business thrive and any threat to this would be questioned.
Work life balance is extremely important in order to keep a fresh mind and be more productive at work.

Thank you, Tarciana, for these valuable insights!
